Dreaming in retro

It’s the first weekend of summer and time for a little nostalgic throwback to games of yore. Maybe not that long ago, but this weekend is being filled with Sega’s last console, the Dreamcast. Back in 1999 Sega put out what I thought was one of the best consoles to hit the market. Seeing that this amazing console was sitting idle on a shelf, I knew what had to be done. So it’s time to dust off the old controllers, find batteries for the VMUs, and try to figure out how in the world to play all of these games again. Let the retro games begin!

I only have so much time free to spend in a game coma on the weekend and far too many old titles to choose from. This time around, I’m going with some of the classics (for me) that I’m fairly certain have aged quite well given how fast we replace games and technology. Diablo made me do it.

I have been playing Diablo 3 for close to a month now when time permits and I am still interested in logging in playing. For me, that’s pretty high praise. I can get excited about a title before it’s released and for a week or so while playing, but then it’s on to the next title. Yeah, that means Star Wars has now gone by the wayside and I’m pretty likely done with it. Diablo is still pressing that gamer loot button for me and it doesn’t hurt that I recently sold my first item on the newly opened real money auction house (RMAH as the kids these days call it). For me, it’s probably a good thing that I had never played the previous games and that my only foray into the genre had been with Torchlight.
