Making an internet media site is hard OR why haven’t I posted in a month?

It pains me that I have been neglecting my personal blog here for the last month. However, I have been hard at work with the creation of my fledgling nerd and gaming media site, Dorkadia. Clearly, I enjoy writing about video games and such as most of my posts on here are about gaming. So I have joined up with another of my fellow Seattle nerds and started up our own site for such things. If you enjoy the posts that I had been putting up here on the topic of gaming, please do visit Dorkadia.

What we do

It’s a pretty simple formula over at Dorkadia; I write about video games and Jon writes about tabletop games. We have featured articles every Tuesday and Thursday with the occasional extra article when we get a chance. We’re looking into expanding on that even further with guest contributors from time to time as well. However, nothing is set in stone and we are flying by the seat of our pants.

What will be here

So obviously I’m going to drop my gaming content here in favor of only reviewing and writing about games for one site. So it’s fair to say that updates are going to be much farther apart than they had been for a while. However, this is going to be my go to site for things like the Beerfest from last month as well as any other personal rants and raves and for my upcoming travel articles.

So I hope that if you’ve enjoyed what I’ve written in the past that you will either keep this blog bookmarked or join me over at Dorkadia for all of my gaming content. Or, even better, just bookmark both sites. My ego thanks you.

Drinking all the beer.

It’s summer! Even here in the Pacific Northwest, the sun is out and the temperatures are rising. That can mean only one thing, or maybe multiple things, but it does coincide with the 2012 Seattle International Beerfest. SIB is one of my personal favorite annual events in Seattle. There is usually an eclectic mix of people enjoying a common love of liquid goodness.

Starting SIB off with The Stoic from Deschutes brewery in Oregon.

This year the festival features a mouthwatering array of brews from all over the world including incredibly rare offerings such as the Samuel Adams Utopias. But beyond the beer, there are
numerous amazing local food vendors on hand to provide cheeses, nuts, tortas, hot dogs, and more. My personal recommendation for a good snack is the cured meat and cheese pairings on a stick from Mt. Townsend Creamery.

It’s no secret that I am a fan of the darker beers, and there are far too many porters and stouts for me to try over the course of the weekend. If you can only make one day of the festival and need to taste with the 10 tickets you get with entry, allow me to suggest the Mad Viking Cognac IRS, the Two Beers Ascension, the Zhiguli Grande 12%, the Double Mountain Ferocious Five, and the Wingman P-51 Continue reading
